Bright joins FA panel

The FA is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Bright as an independent member of the Football Regulatory Authority (FRA). 

The FRA performs various regulatory, disciplinary and rule making functions, including making recommendations on rule changes for the game in England.

The panel comprises three elements with representation from the professional game, national game and independent individuals.

Mark is a former professional player and, during spells with Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday, he was an FA Cup runner-up in both 1990 and 1993 respectively.

Following a 14-year professional career, Mark retired from the game to concentrate on a media career that has seen him appear extensively on the BBC, working at such high-profile tournaments as the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Mark is currently a football commentator, columnist and BBC London sports presenter and has the claim of being the first ever goalscorer at the new Wembley Stadium in March 2007, when he scored for the Geoff Thomas Foundation Charity XI, in aid of his former captain at Crystal Palace.

He also continues to coach football alongside his media work, as the forwards’ coach at Crystal Palace.
