The FA's Chairman, Geoff Thompson, member of the UEFA Executive Committee since 2000, was elected to the position of Vice President of UEFA at the 2002 UEFA Congress in Stockholm.

Thompson fills one of the four Vice Presidency posts to support UEFA President Lennart Johansson, alongside Per Ravn Omdal of Norway, Angel Maria Villar Llona of Spain and Senes Erzik of Turkey.

There are 52 other English representatives on other UEFA Committees and Panels. The International Relations Team process feedback from meetings and co-ordinate distribution of UEFA correspondence to the 6 FA Divisions.

The FA’s International Development Programme ties in closely with UEFA-CAF Meridian Project in Africa, whereby England is partnered with Malawi, Botswana and Lesotho for long-term football development purposes.

In the future we hope to extend our development work to Eastern Europe by complementing UEFA’s Eastern European Assistance Bureau initiatives.
