The FA’s Ray Olivier and Premiership referee Peter Walton are in Ecuador this week to deliver an Advanced Course for Referees Instructors to get the FA-CONMEBOL assistance programme under way for 2007.

Regional Referees Manager Olivier and Premiership official Walton return to the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil following the highly successful seminar the pair delivered in January 2006.

Senior referees from all over Ecuador will attend the seminar aimed at taking them a stage further in their development.

The Ecuador Football Federation has been a major beneficiary of the FA-CONMEBOL cooperation agreement and this is the third year running that its football officials have received workshops to monitor the standard of refereeing in the country.

Ecuador’s elite referees will revisit some of the themes covered in last year’s seminar such as fitness, communication, dealing with confrontation and will also be given presentations on topics like dealing with set-play situations, getting the big decisions right and delivering excellence.

"It is always a great privilege to be asked to return to Ecuador to continue The FA’s assistance programme in the area of refereeing," said Olivier.

"Massive strides have been made in all areas of officiating and we hope The FA’s expertise can be of real benefit to developing Ecuador’s elite referees.

"It is also a great fillip to have someone of Peter’s calibre as part of the team and his experience of refereeing in the Premiership is invaluable to those referees taking part in this workshop."
