The FA Racial Equality Conference
Bradford City FC
Tuesday, 07 December 2004
The full speaking line-up has been confirmed for The FA’s Football For All Conference in Bradford next week.
Sir Trevor Brooking, The FA’s Director of Football Development, will be underlining The FA’s commitment to minority ethnic communities when he speaks at the event being staged at Bradford City Football Club.
The event will also be attended by Manchester City and England goalkeeper David James who says: "I feel very strongly about the issue of racism in football and the need to get the right message across to ensure it is eradicated as far as possible.
"In addition, it is important that we continue taking steps to increase representation from black and minority ethnic groups at all levels of football.
"Hopefully, the Football for All Conference will bring these issues to the forefront of people’s minds and mean they go away keen to develop things further."
Television’s Robbie Earle will be hosting the Conference for the second year running, with Garth Crooks, Paul Elliott, Brendon Batson and referee Uriah Rennie all playing a part in the Conference.
Amongst the other speakers will be The FA’s Ethics and Sports Equity Manager Lucy Faulkner, who says that the Conference will also focus on increasing minority ethnic community participation in football.
"Of all the County FAs in the country, it must be said that the West Riding FA is leading the way on increasing representation from ethnic minorities - with the development of young Asians a priority," she says.
Also speaking will be Jonathan Hall, The FA’s Director of Governance, Trevor Phillips, Chair of the Commission for Racial Equality and Lord Taylor of Warwick.
