The National Campaign was launched on Monday and for the last several years has involved activities, which aim to educate people about racism and its impacts, not just in football but also in society.

The game against Woking today has been designated as a racism awareness match.

At half time, forty boys and girls from several schools within Herefordshire will wear ‘Kick Racism Out of Football t-shirts whilst entertaining spectators with football skills led by Hereford United Football In the Community Coaches.

The children taking part in the 15 minute skills session have all earned their place on the pitch by entering a competition which asked them to draw a picture or write a letter/poem of condolence to the Beslan Community in Chechnya.

A further sixtypupils along with their parents have been invited to attend the game and will be supporting the event by wearing ‘Kick Racism Out of Football’ T-shirts and Badges in order to get the message across. The event has been organised by Herefordshire’s Race Equality Officer, Hereford United and Herefordshire FA Football Development Officers.

Herefordshire Girls and Women’s Officer Alexis Lunn commented: "It is very important that smaller clubs as well as the biggest clubs in the country are involved in national events such as this.

"By raising awareness to specific groups such as football spectators, school pupils and the general community we are helping to raise awareness to a large proportion of society.

"Subsequently we hope this will help to eliminate barriers between players, supporters, football clubs and the communities who are affected by racism and other forms of discrimination
