Dhami joined Birmingham FA’s Skills Coaches plus Hat Trick project officer, Dave Lawrence, at Lodge Primary in West Bromwich for his first full session as a Level 1 coach and the Bhangra artist is hoping to engage more local Asian children in regular football training.

“I believe that there is huge potential in the Asian community to create a number of top flight footballers and coaches. By taking part in coaching youngsters, I hope to break down barriers and help them to get more involved in playing the game.”

“I really want to help Asian kids get into football as, I understand from first hand experience, the many obstacles that they face in entering a profession that sits outside the traditional norms.”

Dhami enjoyed his first coaching experience and is already looking at ways of fitting in more coaching around his music schedule: “It was a great day at Lodge Primary and has given me the opportunity to implement the skills and knowledge I have learnt on the FA Level 1 course.

“Kids are our future and, by concentrating on developing their skills at an early age, we will hopefully give them the first steps into taking the game further.

“Maybe we’ll see one of these kids on the pitch at one of the big clubs one day.”
