The FA is delighted to announce that Brendon Batson is now working for The FA in a consultancy role, providing a key link between the ‘Football for All’ Division and coaching within The FA’s Football Development Division.
Although Brendon's remit does not focus on the technical elements of coaching he will be charged with building greater confidence with the black and ethnic minority coaching community and helping to grow the numbers of coaches from ethnic minorities.
This appointment further highlights The FA’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all participants whatever their ability, age, gender, race, religion or sexuality. In recent years through The FA’s ‘Football For All’ strategy, progress has been made in helping to make the game more inclusive, tackling issues with regard to all types of equality.
Some of Brendon’s key roles include:
- Acting as an ambassador for The FA’s work to increase ethnic minority involvement in coaching
- Providing an overview of and co-ordination of The FA’s work in coach education in relation to ethnic minorities
- Developing an action plan to increase the number of ethnic minorities at all levels in coaching
- Ensuring the FAs mentoring scheme is appropriate for ethnic minorities
In addition Brendon will also have the job of helping to support The FA’s new Regional Coaches to identify the best black and ethnic minority coaches and ensure they have the pathways in place to progress on through the coaching qualifications structure.
