Liverpool have appealed against yesterday's decision by a Regulatory Commission to impose an additional two-match suspension and £15,000 fine on Javier Mascherano.

Mascherano had admitted a charge of improper conduct in relation to his behaviour after being sent off during Liverpool's match against Manchester United on Sunday 23 March.

However, Liverpool have not asked for the two-match ban to be set aside pending the appeal hearing. Therefore, Mascherano will be suspended for this weekend's Premier League match against Arsenal.

The appeal will be heard next week.
