Players' Agent Jonathan Barnett has denied charges of breaching FA Rules and has requested a personal hearing.

The charges relate to his alleged involvement in a meeting involving his client Ashley Cole and representatives of Chelsea FC at the Royal Park Hotel on 27 January 2005.

This meeting led to Premier League disciplinary action against Cole, Jose Mourinho and Chelsea FC. Mr Barnett was charged by The FA with a breach of FA Rule E1(e) which covers breaches of the rules of leagues affiliated to The FA.

It is alleged that he brought about a breach by Ashley Cole of Premier League Rule K5 which relates to illegal approaches to clubs by players under contract.

He was also been charged with a breach of the FIFA Players’ Agents Code of Conduct, which require agents to respect the rights of third parties, in this case Arsenal FC.

Mr Barnett was charged as an alternative with improper conduct (breach of FA Rule E3) for the above matters.

The personal hearing will be scheduled in due course.
