Mourinho was charged with improper conduct in relation to comments made in an interview following Chelsea's Carling Cup semi-final first leg match against Manchester United on 12 January. He denied the charge.

At at a hearing on 10 March, an Independent Disciplinary Commission found the charge to be proven. Mourinho was fined £5,000 and warned to his future conduct.

This decision was the subject of today's Appeal Board hearing.
