Fulham's Andrew Cole has been charged with breach of FA rule E3 and violent conduct.
Disciplinary update
Monday, 20 September 2004.
The FA have issued a number of disciplinary charges relating to the match between West Bromwich Albion and Fulham on Saturday 18 September.
Fulham FC have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E22(a) for failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from violent and/or threatening and/or provocative behaviour.
The charge relates to the conduct of Fulham players towards referee Mike Dean at various times during the match, and at the time of the sending-off of West Brom’s Neil Clement.
Furthermore, it is alleged that Fulham failed to comply with the requirements of Law 12 of the Laws of the Game in that they failed to ensure that their player Pape Bouba Diop vacated the field of play and technical area following his sending-off.
Fulham striker Andrew Cole has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 for the use of abusive and/or insulting words to a match official following his sending-off.
Due to the seriousness of the offence for which he was dismissed, he has also received a additional charge of violent conduct.
Both Fulham FC and Cole have 14 days to respond as these incidents have not been dealt with under the fast-track system. The cases will be heard on Wednesday 06 October.
West Brom’s Neil Clement has also been charged with violent conduct for the incident involving Cole, following his sending-off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity.
This case will be dealt with on the fast-track as an incident outside the referee’s jurisdiction but reported to The FA. Clement has two days to respond.
In addition, Fulham manager Chris Coleman has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 for failing to act in the best interests of the game and/or bringing the game into disrepute. The charge relates to his post-match comments about referee Mark Halsey following the match against Arsenal on Saturday 11 September.
