The FA has today charged referee Andy D'Urso with less than proficiently applying the Laws of the Game.
He failed to send off Blackburn Rovers' Barry Ferguson after cautioning the player twice in the match against Southampton on Saturday 21 August.
Following receipt of D'Urso's report, in which he acknowledges his error in not sending off Ferguson and reports the two cautions, a sending-off will now be included on the player's disciplinary record.
Ferguson will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect.
