We can confirm that The FA has today charged Reading player John Mackie with misconduct for the use of threatening behaviour and abusive and/or insulting words to an opponent (breach of FA Rule E2).

The charge relates to an incident during the home match against Sheffield United on 14th December. He has 14 days to respond.
