Charges brought against trio
Thursday, 20 August, 2009
Lee, Ferguson and Lambert face improper conduct charges.
Liverpool assistant manager Sammy Lee has been charged with improper conduct.
The charge relates to Lee's conduct towards fourth official Stuart Attwell during Liverpool’s match against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on 16 August.
Lee has until 26 August to respond to the charge under what are new fast-track regulations relating to technical area misconduct offences.
Meanwhile, Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson and Norwich City manager Paul Lambert have also been charged with improper conduct.
Ferguson’s charge relates to the use of abusive language towards the match referee in the tunnel immediately following Peterborough United’s home fixture with West Bromwich Albion on 18 August.
The charge relating to Paul Lambert follows his dismissal from the dugout when manager of Colchester United in their match against Yeovil Town on 16 August.
Both managers have until 26 August to respond to the respective charge.
Under the new fast-track rules, managers and other club officials should face hearings within three to four weeks of the original offence, shortening the time in which charges can be brought, responses can be gathered and hearings convened. It should be noted that this system only applies to misconduct in the technical area, and not other cases such as those involving media comments.
