Trio receive sanctions

Sammy Lee, Darren Ferguson and Paul Lambert had Regulatory Commission hearings today.

A Regulatory Commission hearing today heard improper conduct charges issued against Liverpool assistant manager Sammy Lee, Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson and Norwich City manager Paul Lambert.

Sammy Lee was warned as to his future conduct. Lee admitted a charge of improper conduct relating to his behaviour towards fourth official Stuart Attwell during Liverpool’s match against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on 16 August. In reaching its decision the Commission took into account Lee’s admission of the charge, his apology and his exemplary previous disciplinary record over many years.

Ferguson admitted an improper conduct charge relating to the use of abusive language towards the match referee in the tunnel immediately following Peterborough United’s home fixture with West Bromwich Albion on 18 August.

Ferguson was fined £750 and given a suspended two match touchline ban. This ban is suspended for the rest of the 2009-10 season and would come into effect in the event of a similar breach of rules. The Commission took into account Ferguson’s previous good disciplinary record, admission of the charge and letter of apology to the referee.

Lambert admitted improper conduct. The charge followed his dismissal from the dugout when manager of Colchester United in their match against Yeovil Town on 16 August. Lambert was fined £750 and warned as to his future conduct. The Commission considered his admission of the charge and previous good disciplinary record.
