Amongst the thousands of fans that travelled, many disabled supporters attended both the Austria and Poland matches. Here are the match day experiences of three of those fans:

Wayne Busbridge, a visually impaired supporter from London, was excited about the prospect of attending an important fixture such as Austria on the Saturday. His trip to the North of England was a smooth one and once entering the stadium the atmosphere was tense and edgy.

“Although the game didn’t quite live up to expectations the result was the main thing," he said. "Once the penalty was scored we seemed to settle down.”

The sending off of captain David Beckham reminded Wayne of the Argentina match in 1998; “Maybe Beckham needed Rooney there at Old Trafford to calm him down!"

Although there was some disappointment that no audio commentary was available, all in all the match day experience was an enjoyable one for Wayne.

Fourteen year old Sophie Constable won tickets for her family to the Austria match but unfortunately didn’t have the same luck with travelling to the game as Wayne did.

They arrived too late to see Frank Lampard score the winning goal but nevertheless enjoyed the atmosphere in a stadium they regularly attend.

After the final whistle the Constable family made their way to the player’s entrance and got the autographs of David Beckham and Joe Cole.

Ross Hovey, a Liverpool fan who travelled from Cambridgeshire explained: “My experience of the last two games has been fantastic.

"The level of service provided from application to arrival at the game was very good. Old Trafford is a great venue for disabled spectators.

"The car park is very useful - even if you have to wait for an hour to get out. The seating is spacious and you can sit next to your fellow fan/carer," he said.

"I love being an englandfan and felt privileged to be one of 60,000+ people at the game. I really am desperate to get to Germany!”

The Football Association would like to thank all disabled supporters for their feedback and look forward to receiving thoughts and opinions on the new Wembley stadium and the forthcoming World Cup.
