Jill Scott says there will be no let up from Team GB despite already being assured of a place in the last eight of the Olympic Games.
The midfielder scored GB’s second goal in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Cameroon, a win which, allied to the 1-0 victory against New Zealand last Wednesday, sealed their quarter-final berth.
Hope Powell’s side will face Brazil on Tuesday night in the final Group E game. The South Americans have also won their previous two encounters at London 2012, so the Wembley showdown will determine the winners of the group and Scott believes Team GB have enough incentive to want another positive result.
“Our first aim was to get out of the group and, with six points from the first two games, we have secured that now,” she said.
“But we don’t want to rest on our laurels. We will go into the Brazil game looking to gather some momentum going into the quarter-final.
“It will be a difficult game but all the girls are looking forward to it especially with it being at Wembley. There is going to be a massive crowd there but we’ve got a real confidence and belief in the squad and we’ll be looking for another three points.”
