A trip to Tankmania
- Wednesday,
Hope Powell’s Team GB charges warmed up for their upcoming Olympic battle with a trip to a tank range today.
All 22 of Powell’s Olympics squad went on the team-building exercise at Tankmania, near their Leicester training base.
Speaking of the visit to tank range, Team GB’s captain, Casey Stoney, said: “It was great fun, and all of the girls enjoyed it. It’s not the usual battle we’re used to!
“The tanks were a little more fearsome than some of the forwards I’m used to facing, but just not as quick.”
As the London 2012 games loom large, Powell gives her charges a stern warm-up test with a match against Sweden at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium on Friday 20 July (kick-off 4pm). The game will provide the final preparation before the Olympics commence. In a superb double-header this game will be followed by the mouth watering prospect of Team GB (men's) vs. Brazil (kick-off 7.45pm).
With the squads now chosen, it will provide fans with the ideal opportunity to see first-hand some of the best players from the men’s and women’s game in action. Tickets for this match have been selling fast, yet some still remain and you can see two games for as little as £20. To book your ticket call 0844 499 1234.
