Great Britain captain Ryan Giggs admitted his side endured a “difficult” night at the Millennium Stadium after seeing their Olympic quest come to an end at the hands of South Korea.

Stuart Pearce’s men crashed out of the 2012 Olympic Games after a devastating 5-4 defeat on penalties to South Korea in Cardiff.

And Giggs, who appeared as a late substitute and scored in the penalty shootout, believes South Korea’s superior preparations in the build-up to the tournament played a big part in their victory at the Millennium Stadium.

"We've been away for a month, I think that's our sixth game maybe,” said Giggs.

“The Korean lads had, I think, played 18 games unbeaten so that's the sort of preparation they've had compared to our preparation. We've got better each game but it was a bit difficult for us today."
