Chris Powell has hailed the involvement of England Manager Roy Hodgson at the recent UEFA Pro Licence course.
The Charlton Athletic boss was one of a number of coaches and managers afforded an insight into Hodgson’s methods on part-one of the course held at St. George’s Park.
Powell stressed that aspiring coaches and managers can only benefit from accessing the 65 year-old’s wealth of experience.
"You can’t beat watching a man of his experience, a man who is at the helm of our national team showing everyone and sharing what he has done in the past and what he is going to do in the future.
“He put on a fantastic session, a brilliant Q&A session, as well as talking about his life in coaching, [and] his life managing in Switzerland and Italy,” enthused Powell, who watched the former Inter Milan, Fulham and Liverpool boss deliver a coaching session with Derby County’s youth team players.
Hodgson’s varied managerial route, which has seen him manage four national teams, proved equally as inspirational.
“Sometimes people forget where he has been. I think it is a fantastic journey that he is now at the helm of England and it is just great to be in his company.
Powell concluded: “I think I talk on behalf of everyone on the Pro Licence course that being in his company just goes to show where we are at, what we aspire to do, and long may he continue in the job.”
