Are you 14-17-years-old and fancy a casual game with your mates? If so, then you should look to get involved in a Football Mash Up session near you.
As part of the new FA Vauxhall Youth Programme, Football Mash Up sessions are being run across the country to encourage young people to get back involved with football. The slogan for the programme sums up what you can expect from your experience at these sessions: “Your Mates. Your Coach. Your Terms.”
In essence, a Football Mash Up session looks to provide a friendly, relaxed environment that encourages young people to have a fun kick-about.
An FA coach is on hand at each of these Football Mash Ups to support you and your mates get the most from each session, but don’t worry it’s not a boring coaching session. A Football Mash Up typically involves you and your mates having a kick-about on a good quality 5-a-side artificial pitch for an hour.
During the session, The FA coach will work with you to change the games, mix up the teams and to offer a bit of variation to keep it fun and enjoyable for you.
Already, in only a couple of months of this initiative starting, nearly 2500 teenagers have been involved in The FA Vauxhall Youth programme and enjoyed a Football Mash Up session.
A session runs at the same venue at the same time each week over a period of ten weeks, and costs £2 per session. At the end of the ten weeks, The FA coach will work with a range of partners and with the young people to ensure that there is some form of ongoing football opportunity for participants to continue playing in.
