The FA is supporting the bid to host the Gay Games in London2018.
General Secretary Alex Horne wrote to the Gay Games London2018 bid team to highlight The FA’s support for the bid:
He said: “Sport has fantastic powers to bring communities together and we are sure that the Games in London will be a great opportunity to encourage participation and provide a focus for inclusion in sport.
"The FA believes that discrimination in whatever form, against any group of people or section of our multi-faceted society, must be eradicated.
"The FA is leading the way in promoting inclusion in football, launching our new Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Plan in December 2012 and lending support to the ‘Football v Homophobia’ campaign.
"By further highlighting inclusion in sport, the Gay Games in London would provide an extra focus for the good work being done here and all over the country.
"The FA supports the bid to bring the Gay Games to London in 2018 and looks forward to the Games inspiring people to be their very best and celebrating sport in our capital once more.”
