Alex Windell says Bristol Academy are in confident mood ahead of Sunday’s FA Women’s Cup Final against Arsenal.
Mark Sampson’s charges have made a blistering start in The FA WSL and they top the table after winning their first three matches.
But their League campaign takes a back seat this weekend as the Vixens set out to win The Cup for the first-ever time.
Windell said: “We are feeling really good.
“We had a bit of a blip against Birmingham and Lincoln but we got back to winning ways a couple of weeks ago and now we are ready to fight for the rest of the season to try and win this Cup and the League as well if possible.
“The way we have started we have given ourselves a great chance of doing well.”
Sunday’s encounter is a repeat of the 2011 Final which the Gunners won 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena.
Windell believes her side froze on the big day and the Centre of Excellence graduate is relishing the chance to make amends for that performance.
She added: “I don’t think we did ourselves justice in 2011.
“We knew we could play better than we did which is the big shame because we never really tested Arsenal as much as we’d have liked.
“Everyone came off that pitch knowing we should have done better. We didn’t give it our all two years ago, but now we have an opportunity to put that right. We will give it 100 per cent this time and hopefully come away with a winners’ medal.
“We were massive underdogs back then, but this time we have a stronger squad, we have made a great start in the League, we are excited and ready to go.”
