The Second Qualifying Round hat-trick hero helped Lymington and New Milton record the highest score to date in this year's competition in the club 8-2 win over Clevedon United.

Paddy was one of three footballers short-listed for the Player of the Round Award and polled 59% of over 3,000 votes cast on-line at TheFA.com. Paddy beat Boreham Wood hat-trick hero Sam Winston who polled 25 per cent of the votes, and Gedling Town striker Steve Scoffham was third with 16 per cent.

Paddy (22), who works as a labourer in Southampton said:

"As soon as I heard that I had been short-listed I felt great and i've been on a high all week.

"To be one of just three players short-listed from over 1800 for a major award of this kind is an achievement in itself, but to actually win it is fantastic. I'm chuffed to bits."

"You never know what can happen in cup matches; I just hope I can do as well in the next round and help the team make even more progress."

Paddy will receive an UMBRO kit package including XAI boots, training kit and an engraved silver salver. UMBRO will also donate £1,000 worth of football kit and equipment to the local school, club or organisation of his choice.

The FA's Alex Stone said:

"I'm sure that this award will give Paddy and his team-mates a real boost ahead of what will be a tough third qualifying round tie at home to Highworth United.

"We also want to thank all those fans who voted on-line for their players, and especially for Paddy, guaranteeing that football in the Lymington and New Milton area will benefit from the £1,000 kit and equipment donation from FA Partner UMBRO.

Over 1800 players from 168 FA Cup Second Qualifying Round teams were eligible for the prestigious FA Cup Player of the Round Award, and Paddy follows on from Oldham Town's James Curley who was the recipient of the Award from the First Qualifying Round of the competition.
