It may seem as though Nottingham Forest Ladies have gone from perennial relegation battlers to potential title challengers over the summer, but Director Of Football Lisa Dawkins is refusing to get carried away.

Forest have spent the last two seasons scrapping for every point at the bottom of the table, while the likes of Everton and Arsenal have challenged for the Women's Premier League title.

But, after securing seven points in their first three games of the new season, Forest find themselves second in the table, only kept off the top by leaders Blackburn on goal difference.

And, with Rovers up next, Forest will climb to the summit with a victory on Sunday, firmly drawing a line under a testing two years.

"We're really pleased with our start so far," said Dawkins. "We had a difficult season last year so we started pre-season early. I think we needed to regroup and we have done that

"We've had a tough few years fighting relegation and never had a good start. But now we see how important it is to start well. It builds confidence and there is a sense of belief in the squad.

"It's too early to be talking about 'top of the table clash' just yet. We're not looking at it like that, we are just taking one game at a time, going out to win.

"Perhaps when it's the mid-point of the season, when everyone has played each other once, and you're near the top then you think you have a real chance. But now, the players are under no pressure and we've set no targets.

"Now Blackburn have a good set-up, have got good results so far and pose a huge task for us. But although it's a challenge, it's certainly one we're looking forward to."
