Home advantage

Leeds United Ladies hope to capitalise on five home games.

For Leeds United Ladies, football’s coming home for the next few weeks as they start a run of five home games in the next six weeks.

Gemma Grainger’s side has had an unbeaten start to the season on the road, and will be hoping to keep that run going as they face Barnet FC Ladies for the first time at Throstle Nest, Farsley, from 2pm on Sunday 5 September.

"Barnet were promoted as Southern Division champions at the end of last season," said Grainger, "so they’re a bit of an unknown quantity to us. Home advantage in front of a big crowd could be a big help to us.

"We're looking forward to being back on home territory, it's a chance for us to show our fans what we're capable of and how far we've moved on from the home pre-season friendly which we lost.

"We've had a good win at Millwall and felt unlucky to come away with a cup draw at Sunderland, everyone's so upbeat about the season ahead, compared to the summer we endured."

The club will also be unveiling its new home kit before kick-off, with Steve Russell from Ringways Motor Group and Steve Taylor from the League Against Cruel Sports. The kit is supplied by Leeds United's kit-makers, Macron.

"Everyone at Leeds United has given the Ladies side the best possible start to the season off the field," added Grainger. "It's now time for us to repay that faith on the pitch and show how proud we are to wear the badge and carry the name."
