After enjoying an excellent campaign so far, Birmingham City manager Stuart Wilson is challenging his players to repeat their achievements next season.
The Blues are currently sat in fifth spot in the table, after being tipped as one of the favourites for relegation at the start of the season and now Wilson wants to strengthen his hand over the close season in preparation for another assault on the top half next time around.
City showed their character on Sunday to come back from two goals behind against Doncaster Rovers Belles and salavage a 2-2 draw against the team who currently sit one spot above them in the rankings.
An early header from Vicky Exley and then a Rachel Williams shot put Doncaster two goals up at half time, but City emerged for the second half with renewed vigour and Heather Scheuber pulled a goal back in the 53rd minute with a low effort from inside the box.
It was left for Mamimee Morris to scramble home an equaliser in the 64th minute, after Doncaster failed to clear a Birmingham corner.
"Our whole season has been a little bit up and down," revealed Wilson.
"We started off the season by losing players and we've had to rely on young players from the Centre Of Excellence who have come in and done really well to make the squad up.
"We've had some good results and that's why we've got to fifth place in the league when we were expected to be battling relegation.
"So to get to within one game of the end of the season and playing for fourth place is a major achievement.
"If we can keep these players together and add a few more to strengthen the side, then there's no reason why we shouldn't be challenging for the top half or fourth spot again."
