Lionesses in hunt for new manager

Millwall seek a new manager as they return to the top division.

Newly promoted Millwall Lionesses are wasting no time in preparing for their return to The FA Tesco Women's Premier League National Division next season.

The Southern Division Champions, who clinched the title with victory over Crystal Palace in mid-April, are searching for a replacement for Matt Beard as manager. Louise Newstead, the Lionesses chair, explained what she is looking for in the new boss.

"The successful applicant must have both management and coaching experience, ideally within the women’s game, but as a minimum a good working knowledge of women’s football in this country," she said.

"Applicants must hold a minimum of the UEFA B Licence, or preferably the UEFA A, and have the ability to co-ordinate a small management team. Although this is an expenses-only position with no formal salary, this really is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic manager or coach to challenge themselves against other elite clubs in this country.

Newstead added: "Based in South East London, the position is an exciting opportunity to recruit, coach and manage a squad of elite players in preparation for a the top-flight"
