Karen Carney of Birmingham City and England has won the Nationwide Women's Player of the Month Award for December.
A selection panel, which includes England coach Hope Powell, picked Karen following a series of outstanding performances during the month.
Nationwide's Chris Hull said: "Karen's form during December has been exceptional and it has been recognised by England boss Hope Powell and the panel.
"Karen has played a pivotal role for Birmingham in the Nationwide Premier League in the month and is also going from strength to strength at international level after being a stand out player for England at Euro 2005.
"Karen will be presented with her specially commissioned Nationwide magnum of champagne prior to a forthcoming first team fixture."
Michael Moore, the Birmingham City Ladies manager, said: "Karen's form has been outstanding in the last month.
"The team has started to pick up points during December and it is no coincidence this has come at the time that Karen has been playing well.
"Karen needed to be rested during November and it is a credit to her that she has returned so fresh and keen.
"After great performances for her club and country Karen could have had her pick of any of the top flight clubs over the summer, she showed great loyalty by staying with us."
