The inaugural Independent Schools Football Association for Girls National Sixes Tournament sponsored by Blue Chip Events took place in the beautiful grounds of Wycombe Abbey School on Sunday 08 May with over 20 teams from all over the country taking part.
The grounds were alive with excitement from early on as teams battled it out in their respective age groups for places in the semi-finals, roared on by vocal
parents.
Teams at Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 played some excellent football in matches superbly handled by members of the Berks & Bucks Referees Association and watched by current England International Rachel McArthur and Mr. David Elleray, Chairman ISFA (above).
The semi-final were tense affairs with Marymount School & Bradfield going down to penalties at U18 level while Kings Warwick and St. Mary’s Wantage went out at U16 level; the U14 losing semi finalists were Alice Ottley and St. Mary’s Wantage.
The U14 Final was won by Stamford High School who beat Woodside Park 1-0 in a very tense final between two unbeaten teams. The winners of
the U16 Final were Stafford Grammar a 2-1 victory in an epic struggle with Wycombe Abbey.
The U18 National Sixes Champions are Oakham School (left) who reversed a group stage loss to Wycombe Abbey to win the final 2-0 with a display of grit, determination and superb football.
Well done to everyone that took part, teams are looking forward to next year’s event already, with many more teams promising to enter.
