Children celebrate at Hampshire FA festival
Developing the game
Tuesday, 20 July 2004.
The FA Charter Standard has been in operation now for over three years with many clubs and schools in Hampshire taking up the award.
The day was open to all FA Charter Standard clubs in the County, with the day being split into two.
The morning was open to the clubs administrators and managers who attended three workshops titled, Improving Club/ Referee Relations, Funding Through Development & Community Awards and Sports Nutrition For Young People.
In the afternoon players from the clubs arrived and were treated to coaching sessions by the Hampshire FA’s Coaches.
Stefanie Runalls from the Hampshire FA who organised the event was delighted. “It was a fantastic day and was enjoyed by all", she said.
"The Charter Standard Scheme is now at the heart of the development of Clubs within Hampshire, and this was shown by the numbers of people who took part in the day.”
The festival is just one of the initiatives the County FA is promoting to increase participation levels in the National Game.
Another, following hot on the heels of the festival will be The Hampshire FA Football Development Conference, a showcase of the invaluable football development initiatives taking place within the County to increase participation and enjoyment in the Nation's favourite sport.
The event at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday 22 August will be the biggest sporting conference in Hampshire this year, with Sir Trevor Brooking, Director of Football Development at The FA due to outline The FA's Development Strategy, alongside Kelly Simmons, Head of National Football Development at The FA.
