The first camp took place in 2006 at St George’s School, Ascot, and such was the success that The FA is running a second camp this year.
The camp will involve a whole variety of learning opportunities around leadership skills, team building and football in general.
The event will be run by national FA staff and covers a whole breadth of football disciplines, from learning about coaching and refereeing, to sports science, goalkeeping, disability football and Futsal.
The event is being opened by Sir Trevor Brooking before the 100 young leaders from across the country embark on learning more about the game.
Objectives of the camp:
- To provide a pinnacle to the FA Step into Sport Programme.
- To provide a unique training opportunity for one hundred 16-18 year olds.
- To identify three young leaders to be part of the international placement programme.
- To engage FA Divisions and staff in a cross-division event with a shared vision and outcomes
- To establish a long-term process for monitoring impact of leaders post-event
As well as attending the FA Young Leaders Camp, three young leaders will be selected to go to Botswana to support our international placement programme and help support and run festivals for children in Africa.
There is the chance to volunteer and work at national, regional and county football events in England too.
The deadline to apply for this year's camp, which takes place at St George’s School, Ascot from Monday 16 July – Friday 20 July, has already expired.
However, details of the 2008 camp will appear on TheFA.com.
