VIDEO: FA Cup Schools Day 2007

Three time FA Cup winner Tony Adams visited Northgate Primary School to promote the first FA Cup Schools Day.

Poulner Junior School in Ringwood played host to over 400 children from the New Forest over two packed days of sport last month, in conjunction with FA National Schools Week.

Girls football took precedence on Friday 20 April and girls' netball and boys' football on the following day.

Everyone who took part in the football competitions were rewarded with a goody bag, donated by Hampshire FA on behalf of E.ON, sponsors of The FA Cup.

On the Friday, Orchard Junior School came out on top, beating Blackfield Primary School in the final on penalties. Over 100 girls competed in the competition, showing a very high skill level and watched by a large crowd of teachers and parents. Lymington Junior School were awarded the Fair Play Award for their team spirit and attitude.

The next day more than 280 boys and girls competed in the boys' football and girls' netball events. Both the football and netball competitions attracted large crowds of parents.

All the competitions were run by New Forest School Sport Partnership and were assisted by a team of volunteers from New Forest Rangers Junior FC and the Ringwood Netball League, under the leadership of Steve Simpson and Jenny Newham.

The football competition was again decided on penalties with Ringwood retaining the trophy for a second year running, seeing off Orchard in the Final.
