England Under-21s and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has revealed that he is a fan of small-sided football and says that five-a-side football brings out the outfield player in him because it is too much fun to stay between the posts.

Speaking at the launch of The FA UMBRO Fives 2008, a national five-a-side tournament giving amateur teams the chance to win a place in the final at Wembley Stadium, Hart admitted that he loves the game.

"In five-a-side no way you could get me in goal, it is too much fun," Hart explained. "People organise it after work and stuff and I can see why. It is intense and you don't have to go chasing after balls all over the place. It is also a healthy way of spending your spare time

"I try dribbling out now and again in training but last time I did it I got clattered by Stevie Ireland and Nedum Onuoha was waiting behind him - that has been logged - so now I stay in the penalty area!"

Hart also spoke about his dreams of playing at the highest level for his country, but said that things have moved so quickly for him in recent years that he is just pleased to be playing football regularly for Manchester City.

"Being involved with England is the biggest thing you can do and if I ever get picked for the senior team then you will not be able to fit the smile on my face," he said.

"But if I am not involved I will not be disheartened because I only have to look back on where I have come from and how quickly things have happened for me.

"In terms of age I think if you are old enough then you are good enough. People say that you do not peak as a keeper until you are in your late 20s but that's not necessarily the case because everyone matures at different speeds."

THE FA Umbro Fives will see a series of regional heats taking place over the next few months before 24 men's teams and eight women's teams play at Wembley stadium in the Finals event later this year. To find your local heat  click here or read more at the Metro newspaper website.
