Adrian Boothroyd is hoping that the team ethic will stand them in good stead in the Premiership.

Continuing our look at the different experiences of the various clubs and their preparations for the new season, we speak to Adrian Boothroyd.
What did you do over the summer?
Promotion sunk in pretty quickly for me because we had the play-off trophy in the front of the coach on the way back to the hotel from the stadium. We were discussing the players we needed for the Premiership season very soon afterwards.
Myself, the chairman and the chief executive were all in the office on the Monday morning discussing the way forward. I have had a rest, because I think you need one, but I'm raring to go and I've been thinking and working hard on bringing players in.
Did you watch the World Cup?
I did. I love the World Cup, it's a great occasion and I love to see all the different teams and how they set up from an anorak's point of view. I also like to watch it because of the drama, and I think it was a great World Cup in Germany this year.
How has pre-season been so far?
It's going very well, we've been training three times a day and the weather has been fantastic, so not only are we all getting a tan, we're working very hard as well.
How have the new players settled?
The biggest compliment I could pay to Chris Powell and Damien Francis is that they've fitted in so well you wouldn't even know they were new because they're wonderful people. They're great to work with, willing to learn and keen to contribute their own ideas, which is a big plus for us.
Who are the players to look out for at Watford this season?
I don't tend to give individuals credit because it's a team performance. There's a real team ethic on and off the pitch and when we win it bodes well for everyone concerned at the club.
What are your thoughts on the coming season?
Just excitement because it's going to be a real adventure. If we thought last year was a rollercoaster, this season will be an even bigger one. There are going to be highs and lows just like there were last year, but I'm confident in the people I've got around me. By adding to and adjusting the fantastic group of people we have already, I'm sure we'll be successful.
What grounds are you looking forward to visiting?
Grounds don't bother me because we won't be going to play the occasion, we'll be going to play the game. Whether it's Vicarage Road, Anfield, or Old Trafford, it makes no difference to me, as long as our team's doing well.
Tip for the league?
I think there'll be a few surprises this year because the players coming back from the World Cup will take a bit of time to get going again. By the end of the season, the table may throw up a few surprises like it did this year.
Personal ambition for the season?
To learn as much as possible about my team, about myself, enjoy what's going to be a wonderful season, and make sure we establish ourselves as a Premiership club.
Have the preparations been different to last year?
Yes because last year we had 11 players leaving and 10 coming in. This year we've been bringing in coaching staff, sports science staff and recruitment staff because we are building and we don't want this to be a short-term thing.
Only a couple of players have been added this season, so there isn't as much bedding in that needs to be done, but I still think we're two or three players short of having a really good squad. We've got a good squad at the moment, but if we get injuries we haven't got the depth we need. If we bring those players in, we have a good chance of surprising a few people.
