What have you been up to over the summer?

"We have had about six weeks off from football. With the play-off match we played out last match on 8 May. I have spoken to a few of the lads and although we have some time away from structured training the guys have all kept themselves fit. As a part time club most of players have got full time jobs. Most of the players managed to get a week away somewhere."

Did you watch the World Cup?

"I watched most of it and it was a shame that most of the things that were talked about were the diving and all the cards rather than all the good performances. For example Zinedine Zidane is likely to be remembered at this World Cup for the head butt and not his performances until that moment. Against Brazil it was like watching vintage Zidane.

"England didn't really play as we all hoped, but people don't realise how hot it was out there. They might now with the recent heatwave, but it was difficult for the players. It was a shame we didn't go further because we had the talent. Man for man I think we were better than France, but they made it to the final and we didn't."

How has your pre-season gone so far?

"Things have gone well so far. Our last game we won 8-0 and that was good for morale. The match was played at a quick tempo so it was pleasing to see everyone step up. It is good to be back because when you spend a Saturday afternoon being dragged around the shops you really miss the game and wish you were out on the pitch instead."

Are your preparations different for this season different from last year?

"Not really apart from the late start it is very similar to last year."

What new players have you got in over the close season?

"Josh Sozzo has joined us from Hitchin and he has fitted in very well, is one of the lads already and he is a good striker. Also that means there is competition for places because there are four strikers at the club. Dave Theobold has joined us from Kettering and he will bring something different to us at the back. Also we have a left winger from Weymouth in Adam Wilde who looks very good too."

Which players are the ones to watch at your club?

"Apart from me? I think it is going to be a big season for a lot of the players. In particular Paul Bastock our keeper because he has got the experience of playing in this division having won it with Boston a few years ago and was one of our best players last year. Tom Davis is quite an exciting player for the fans to watch. He has come back and looks quite sharp."

Are you looking forward to the new season?

"We can't wait to get going. We know it is going to be a tough season for us because we are the new team in the division and they are always the favourites to go down. We are all chomping at the bit to get started. There are going to be some big games for us this season."

Any grounds you are looking forward to visiting?

"I'm a Peterborough lad so I am really looking forward to going to Cambridge United. Most of the lads are looking to get back to Weymouth again because we had such a good rivalry with them last season and we can't wait to get it started again."

Who is your tip to win the league?

"Grays I think will do well because they looked very good in The FA Trophy Final last year. Exeter fell away towards the end of last season, but they will be looking to push on. Oxford are a big club. Mark Stimson will make a big difference to Stevenage because he worked wonders at Grays and they have a good set up there. It will be a local derby for us and we face them on Boxing day."

What are your personal ambitions for the season?

"Just to keep on scoring goals and playing well for the club."
