We start with Northwich Victoria boss Steve Burr, whose side won promotion to the Conference after a successful season in the Conference North.

What have you been up to over the summer?

To be honest nowadays you don't get much of a break. You don't really switch off because you are meeting new players, sorting out the squad for next season, filling in the gaps from the guys who have left.

I managed to get away with the family for a week and managed to get a couple of games of golf in, but you don't get much of a break at all these days.

Did you watch the World Cup?

There were not many games that I missed during the competition. I thought that as the games went on they got worse because there is so much riding on them, by the time you get to that stage that it can ruin it as a spectacle. It's a shame really because the games in the group section were terrific. Saying that the game of the tournament was the one between Germany and Italy.

Ghana were the team that surprised me the most really. It will be interesting to see how they do in the next World Cup. I was disappointed with England really, but then we played a pre-season game against Crewe recently and the temperature was so high that I can imagine the conditions in which they were playing in. It can't have been pleasant.

How has your pre-season gone so far?

Our pre-season has gone very well so far. I am very pleased with the fitness and commitment levels of the playes. The conditions are making it hard though. It was 25 degrees against Crewe the other night and that was an evening game.

What new players have you got in over the close season?

We have got five new players in so far. Phil Senior, a goalkeeper from Huddersfield and Ryan Brown, a defender from Port Vale. Macclesfield Town striker Kevin Townson and defenders Gareth Griffiths and Tony Gallimore from Rochdale.

Which players are the ones to watch at your club?

Our two goal scorers from last season Paul Brayson and Johnathon Allan always catch the eye. Our right back Richard Battersby is one to look out for because he likes to get forward and is a great athlete. This will be a great test for them to go up a division and test themselves against different opposition.

What are your thoughts on the new season?

We have signed some new players and I think that has made us stronger. You never really know until you start though. I have never been one to set targets because that is not my style. In any competition you enter you want to be the best. I just want us to give it our all and see where we finish.

What grounds are you looking forward to visiting?

I am looking forward to going to all the grounds after last season. Some of the pitches last season left a lot to be desired. The Conference North is a tough division, but the only thing that lets the division down is the state of some of the pitches. The Conference has some great grounds and 85 per cent of the pitches are very good.

Who is your tip to win the league?

Oxford will not be far away this season because they are a big club and they get big gates. The ex-league clubs will always do well. I think Stevenage will be one to watch because they have always carried some clout and now they have got Mark Stimson there and he is a good manager, so they should be there or thereabouts at the end.

What are your personal ambitions for the season?

I hope that we have a good season. I don't really set targets. Football is a great game when you are winning. In fact I don't think there is a better place when you are getting the results, but it is awful when you are not. If we could get a piece of silverware this season that would be great.

Are your preparations different from last year?

We have done nothing different this season from any other. We have started around the same time and are playing the same amount of friendlies. We were very fit last season and I would like it to carry on.
