A powerful striker in his prime, Iffy Onuora made his name as a lethal finisher with the likes of Huddersfield and Gillingham and now he's hoping to be the man to put the finishing touches to his players on the training ground.

Having taken the first steps into the coaching world with Walsall, Swindon and now Gillingham, Onuora has secured the highest qualification available to take him to the next level.

After completing the course Onuora told TheFA.com: "I can't think of anything I didn't enjoy.

"I spent most of the year out of work, so it was a good chance for me to stay in touch with everyone through this course.

"There's different elements to it, and it's always thought provoking and stimulating. At some point every aspect of everyone's job has been relevant.

"Someone like Steve Rutter with his FA hat on will obviously have relevant things to say about tournament football that a club manager might not have dealt with.

"Someone with the youth hat on will have something different to offer in discussion. So at some point you touch on all those experiences and I'm far richer for that."

While he has tasted first team management at Swindon, Onuora is aware that he is still relatively inexperienced and is eager to take as much as he can from those around him who have been coaching for a number of years.

"Most of the coaches on this course have far more experience than me," Onuora admitted. "So I've come in with my eyes open and I've been listening to what those guys have to say about certain situations. It's been great for me.

"The game changes so quickly, so when we started the course a year ago some people were in work, some weren't and that has changed throughout the year.

"So if we were to come together again as a group in the future it would be interesting to see where everyone is in football as much as anything.

"Until you meet people in person they're just a name, but coming here I've been fortunate to interact with so many people who work at a high level in football.

"It's invaluable to be able to phone someone for advice, knowing them and being able to speak to them about anything."
