After leading Bristol City to the Championship in his first full season, Gary Johnson obviously knows a thing or two about winning football matches.

A man who has the unusual combination of managing Yeovil and Latvia in recent years, Johnson has now added the UEFA Pro Licence on his growing list of credentials,

Meeting at Warwick University three times during the season has been one of the highlights of the course for Johnson as he has formed strong bonds with his fellow coaches on the course.

Johnson told TheFA.com: "We're all in the same boat, we have the same problems to deal with and we have the same highs and lows.

"Here on this course you meet friends for life, even on the previous badges you work with people you are still in contact with and this has certainly been great for relationships between coaches.

"The conference calls we do have been great, you pick things up from the experiences that are shared and the ideas they stimulate rather than what is written in a book."

Despite Johnson's managerial experience compared with some of the other coaches on the course, he has taken charge of more than 400 league games, he is always keen to learn from the people he has been studying with.

"The most important thing you can take from courses like these are the experiences we all have and how you reacted to them," Johnson explained.

"Everything you do helps your game, there are lots of things from the course that you use when you return to your club. It's very worth doing.

"It can be hard finding the time for all the aspects of the course, the job after all is 24 hours a day and you lie in bed thinking about it. But I was really keen to come back and see everyone again, I've really enjoyed it.

"Next season is going to be difficult, we're moving up a division so the expectations are different and so are the opposition. But we'll do our best and see where that takes us."
