Organised by the West Riding County FA and Leeds City Council in conjunction with the Refugee Council, the tournament is now an established event on the football calendar.

The competition brings together refugees from around the Leeds area to introduce them to football.

A total of nine teams competed in the 5-aside tournament, with the two finalists being chosen to represent Leeds in the Unity Cup, that takes place at Roundhay School, Leeds on the 16 and 17 July 2005.

West Riding County FA Football Development Officer, Mark Coulson said: “The day was a fantastic success.

"The competition was played in the right spirit and the standard of play, particularly in the final, was very high. This is a fine example of how football can bring communities together."
