Meet the Leaders - Zac Evans & Lindsey Whitton

Meet two more Young Leaders ahead of this year's Leadership & Volunteering Camp.

In the weeks leading up to The FA National Leadership and Volunteering Camp 2010 in July, we will be running profiles on each of this year’s Management Team.

Over 100 leaders from County FAs all around the country have been invited to the event at Wolverhampton University's Walsall campus, and a management team has been formed who have taken a major role in delivering the 2010 camp.

The team is formed of Young Leaders, who have been selected as a result of showing outstanding leadership qualities at camp in previous years and we will be introducing each of them in the forthcoming weeks.

Featured this week, is Zac Evans from West Riding and Lindsey Whitton from Somerset.

My Dad who is Manager, and now chairman, of my local football club where I started playing and coaching football.

How did you get involved in Leadership and Volunteering?
I did some work experience through school for Futebol De Salou and then was put forward through school for my County FA young leaders and volunteering camp. I went down and loved it!.

How did attending camp in 2009 help you?
It has given me so many opportunities to progress as a coach and a person. I have been able to have meetings in Wembley Stadium, helped out at the Four Nations Futsal Championships, met people who I will remain friends with for a very long time. It has helped me discover my strengths and my weaknesses and then given me the opportunity and drive to improve them.

What has been the best thing about being part of the 2010 Management Team?
The food! No, seriously, it has been the chance to work together as a team with people who share the same interests, drive and passion and create what will hopefully be a fantastic national camp.

Name?
Lindsey Whitton

18

County FA?
Somerset County FA

Favourite Team?
Celtic FC

Person in football who has influenced you the most?
When I was younger I used to be inspired and influenced by professional players, in particular Henrik Larsson and Alan Shearer for their great striking abilities but now from where I have become involved in different aspects of football, my two Somerset County coaches influence me the most not just through playing but coaching as well.

How did you get involved in Leadership and Volunteering?
My friends were getting involved and I was offered a free t-shirt if I went to help with them and since then, I've never looked back!

How did attending camp in 2009 help you?
The 2009 camp was amazing. It gave me so many tips and aids for my own coaching and opened my mind to all the opportunities that are out there. The camp has helped me get involved with volunteering, from Futsal events, to helping at The FA Skills centre in my local area.

What has been the best thing about being part of the 2010 Management Team?
Becoming a regular at Wembley Stadium and actually having tasks that are more interesting than working at Tesco during my gap year!
