Clinical Experience And Expertise

The Football Association is committed to the FIFA objective of protecting the short and long term health of football players. We recognise that in order to meet this objective we have to employ the most experienced and expert clinical staff available in football medicine and football science.

We strive for excellence in everything that we do and we encourage an attitude of continuous improvement, with our staff actively focusing on improving football performance, football injury prevention and standards of health care for football players.

The Football Association Sports Medicine & Sports Science Department at St George’s Park will employs experienced sports medicine doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, sports psychologists, sports nutritionists and strength and conditioning staff who will collaborate with external experts in cardio-pulmonary medicine, orthopaedics, emergency medicine, rheumatology, maxillofacial surgery, applied biomechanics, and exercise physiology among other specialties.

We work together as an integrated multi disciplinary team in a culture that encourages innovation and creativity in the delivery of high quality evidence based healthcare.

All of our staff have experience in caring for football players at the elite level, with some members of staff having had experience of international and elite club level football and other staff members having a particular expertise in caring for children and adolescents in club academies, or in women’s football, or in football for differently able players. We love football and we are determined to raise the standards of health and welfare for all football players.
