Details of the club and player 'Whereabouts' programme.
In order for the extensive testing programme to take place, The FA operates an extensive club and player whereabouts programme over the top four professional leagues in English Football.
This is the largest team whereabouts programme in world sport, with The FA receiving over 3500 whereabouts entries per month. The whereabouts programme is based upon a requirement for the Premier and Football League clubs to submit and update squad training information, along with an additional requirement for absent players to make themselves available for testing at no-notice on the same day if required. This allows players to be tested at any time throughout the season.
This combines the key requirements of effective doping control; no-notice out-of-competition testing and the need to ensure that players cannot avoid being tested without sanction, with the ability to monitor unusual player activity for the purposes of test distribution planning.
