Free inspiration for Burton's 'footymums'.
A special workshop for Burton football mums is being held later this month giving women the chance to learn more about child protection, coaching, fund raising and the administration required for running a team and/or club.
The free event is taking place at Marstons Sports & Social Club in Burtonon on the morning of Saturday 27 February, the intention is to get more mums involved in grassroots football to help support the 5000 children who play in the Burton Junior Football League every week.
The event is being run by footymums.com, in association with Birmingham County FA and is also supported by the Burton Junior Football League. Polly Fildes and Heidi Lockyer from the Birmingham FA will be giving presentations on child welfare and coaching - talking through the practicalities of what is involved and the logistics of these vital areas.
Footymums' Bron Moss will be providing a whole range of suggestions for fundraising, from getting local sponsorship to ideas for making money for local teams and clubs by running events.
'While we know mums love supporting their children's football, we want to inspire them to get actively involved," said Bron.
"We hope to offer something for everyone at our workshop - whether you are sporty and fancy running a club or help with training, or perhaps you are an admin person and can help with the paperwork.
"Or maybe you just fancy finding out how you have some fun with some footymum friends running fundraising socials. Even if you know nothing about football, we can hopefully show how you can make a contribution."
