Get Into Football

Coaching cops!

Metropolitan Police put new skills into practice in Surrey.

The Surrey County FA, in cooperation with the Metropolitan Police, recently held a day of football activities at a Goals venue in Tolworth for children from the local community.

Police officers who have recently achieved their FA Level One Coaching Qualification, spent the day putting their newly acquired skills into practice.

In conjunction with the Kingston-upon-Thames Safer Neighborhood Team, a morning of coaching sessions and small-sided games took place for children in the local community to help build relations with the Police. This event followed the officers from the borough of Kingston-Upon-Thames attending their Level One Coaching Certificate in the summer of 2009.

Safer Neighborhood Teams spend most of their time out on patrol in your neighborhood, meeting the community and identifying and dealing with those crimes and issues that cause the community most concern.

Richard Gunney from the Surrey County FA and Chris Hamilton from the Old Malden Safer Neighborhood Team co-ordinated the event, which was a great success with over 50 local children taking part in the event. A number of representatives from the Police were present on the day with Chief Superintendent Paul McGregor attending to present certificates to all the children.

The Surrey County FA will continue to work closely with the Safer Neighborhood Teams offering support to those officers delivering football in the community.
