Mini workshop proves big success

Kent County FA provide Charter Standard training event.

The fantastic facilities at Tonbridge School welcomed club coaches to an exclusive FA Charter Standard Workshop in July.

Over 25 coaches attended the three-hour workshop, which was delivered by FA Regional Coach Development Manager Chris Whalley.

The theory and practical workshop was designed to support coaches working with players and teams making the transition from Mini Soccer to 11 v 11.

The workshop discussed the differences between the two formats of football including the rules, the playing area and tactics as well as practices and player roles.

Tony Rudd of Kennington Juniors FC, praised the evening by saying: “The challenges that both players and coaches face when making the transition are huge but the workshop provided ideas and support which are very useful and practical."

The club in-service training events are one of many benefits that the County FA offers to new and existing FA Charter Standard Clubs with clubs receiving a 15 per cent Umbro discount, use of The FA Crest and continued coaching support.

Kent County FA Football Development Officer Lee Suter went on to say: “As a County FA we are committed to the continued personal development of the FA Charter Standard volunteer workforce and it was pleasing to see so many coaches dedicated to the event.”
