Football Fever hit Stafford town centre on Saturday when Sir Geoff Hurst visited as part of his role as McDonald's Director of Football.
Staffordshire Football Association and Stafford Borough Council organised the event to promote the good work that is going on in the Borough and across the County.
Local FA Charter Standard Clubs also got involved in the day by promoting their clubs, whilst children received coaching from newly qualified FA Level 1 McDonald's coaches.
As part of the day's events, children had the chance to take part in skills competitions with England Women’s Internationals Rachel Unitt, Lindsay Johnson and Emily Westwood and also had the opportunity to test their dribbling and penalty taking skills on the McDonald's inflatable skill stations.
Andy Weston, County Development Manager said: “It was a fantastic occasion; it’s not every day a World Cup winner comes to Stafford!
“Sir Geoff had never been to an event such as this and he really enjoyed it. The people of Stafford made him feel really welcome and most importantly the children had a great time and met the Three Lions as well.”
The event linked in with Stafford Borough’s celebrations to mark the 800 year anniversary of its first charter.
Children were presented with FA McDonalds goody bags, balloons, England Posters and information on all the initiatives Staffordshire FA deliver.
