It has finally arrived. After a long, hard season that started, for some, way, way back in July, the season is officially over, for today, 1st June, is the first day of the 'close season'.
Introduced to give players in England a break away from the game, the close season - where only international, small-side, armed forces and scout matches are permitted in England - now runs for the duration of June.
Last year we hardly even noticed the break. What with the events out in Korea and Japan, we were treated to World Cup matches nearly every day, but this year, with no World Cup nor European Championship, we're in an odd year, how can we cope?
Like you, we can't go without the Beautiful Game for 30 whole days either, so TheFA.com is here to help you through every day in June with our guide, Close Season Encounters, pointing you in the direction of your daily dose...
Today is Final day.
If you are lucky enough to be in Perth, Western Australia, you can see the National Soccer League Grand Final between Perth Glory and Olympic Sharks of Woolooware, New South Wales at the Subiaco Oval.
Today's match is a repeat of last year's final where Olympic triumphed - their second Grand Final win in five appearances. Glory on the other hand will be desperate for their first victory in what is their third final...
Also taking place today, in the German city of Wolfsburg, Canada are the visitors taking on Rudi Völler's team in their preparation for the Group 5 match against Scotland in Glasgow on Saturday. Völler will be without Oliver Kahn, Michael Ballack, Jens Jeremies (FC Bayern Munich) and Miroslav Klose (1. FC Kaiserslautern) who were involved in the cup final yesterday afternoon.
Tomorrow, the football is much closer to home - Hull, in fact.
