We've had a very good pre-season campaign and now it's time to get the season going.  We're all looking forward to our first match in the Premiership tomorrow.

It's a new season, and a new challenge, but we have prepared in the same way as we always have done at Carrow Road.  We've got a system in place which has kept on ticking along.

After a nice light session this morning and a talk through some ideas for tomorrow, we had our regular Friday Oldies v Youngies game, with the Youngsters winning 1-0 thanks to Ryan Jarvis' goal.

That match is a league in itself in Norwich, the young lads play against the older players every Friday and it adds a bit of fun to the end of the week. On the odd occasion, when one side is a man short and they want to be two short, I'll don my boots and have a game too.

But the real action starts tomorrow.

The players all know if they are involved tomorrow, I like to let them know if they are playing so they can get themselves mentally prepared for the game. We'll meet up at the ground tomorrow afternoon and will be fully focused on the task of picking up three points against Crystal Palace in what is set to be a tight game.

Like us, Palace came up from Division One, so having played them twice last season we'll be more familiar with them than any other side in the Premier League.  It'll be two teams both going for a vital win on the first day. Last year we had one win a-piece in our head-to-heads and I don't think there'll be much between us tomorrow either.

This season is a real challenge for the club.  We don't need to get as many points as we did last year to reach our aim of survival, but we are playing against the best teams every week, so it will be extremely tough.

But I think our players are both individually and collectively prepared and are well equipped to meet that challenge. Hopefully we can go out and play some good football, entertain and win some games.  There's bound to be some heavy defeats too, but it's how we bounce back from those and we'll try to get over them as quickly as possible.
