As plain Bobby Robson, he played for Fulham, West Brom and won 20 England caps, going to the 1958 World Cup. As a manager, he is a legend; leading Ipswich to the FA Cup and UEFA Cup and then guiding England to the latter stages of two World Cups, most famously getting within a penalty shoot-out of reaching the World Cup Final at Italia 90.

He then travelled Europe, enjoying success as a manager in Holland, Portugal and Spain. He is now back on his native Tyneside and has revitalised Newcastle, taking them from the bottom of the Premiership into the Champions League

TheFA.com: What are the most and least enjoyable parts of your job?

Robson: Most enjoyable - Working with your players during the week, preparing them for the game, and then winning the game at the end of the week through those endeavours. When I was manager of England, the greatest feeling I ever had was when I won a game for England, the feeling of national pride is incredible on such occasions.

Least enjoyable - Having lost a game, to then deal with the media afterwards.

TheFA.com: What is the major difference since you were a player?

Robson: Quite simply it is the amount of money in the game today.

TheFA.com: Name one football rule you would like to change?

Robson: I don't think there is much wrong with the rules of the game, it's in pretty good shape. For example I think the recent changes to the back pass and offside rules have benefited the game tremendously.

If there is one thing though that I think is a little unfair or harsh, it is when a goalkeeper brings down a player in the area, he is invariably sent off. A defender on the other hand committing the same foul may often only receive a booking.

TheFA.com: Which other Premiership manager do you most admire?

Robson:
Sir Alex Ferguson - for what he has achieved under great pressure at Manchester United. I also like what Gerard Houllier has achieved and he's a close second to Sir Alex

TheFA.com: Which Premiership player would you sign if money was no object?

Robson: Thierry Henry, lightening quick, skilful and a great finisher. A very dangerous and exciting player.

TheFA.com: How do the players address you?

Robson: Normally it's gaffer

TheFA.com: What is your motto?

Robson: "Trust in and work for each other and play to the last second."
